Founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1923 in a valley famous for its exceptional water quality — the same water that tea master Sen no Rikyū used centuries before. Yamazaki is where Japanese whisky began. The reservation-only tour walks through the mash house, fermentation, unique multi-shape stills, and a tasting of core Yamazaki expressions. Notoriously difficult to book — plan 2 months ahead.
